When passion drives us to chase our dreams, they come true. You just have to trust the process, because it doesn't happen when you want it to, it happens when it's supposed to.

Joe Morrison won our Mansformation Transformation Challenge last year when he lost 28lbs in 12 weeks. One of the driving forces for him was to get in shape for his next attempt to become a Pro Drag Racer.

In this episode, we talk about his journey from losing weight, to gaining some of it back and how we are going to prepare for his pro debut in 2020.

This episode is a great example of how life is a project with forever changing opportunities and situations and how we adapt to them is what determines our success and ultimately our happiness.

#56 Learning The Art Of The Process

In this episode, I chopped it up with James who is an amateur bodybuilder and men’s physique competitor. James is also a professional salesman and he relates to building his body like being a successful salesman, through the process. He shares some really great takeaways like “You can control what you do, but you can’t always control the results”. A key component when transforming your body, building a career and everything in between. Focus on the process of becoming and the results will eventually show up.

We also talk about delaying gratification and how taking just a few minutes to think before you act can drastically increase your chances of accomplishing the desired outcome.

Please share this with someone you feel would find value, thank you!

It's been 10 years since Karen and I opened up our business - bodhi by anthony monetti in Somerville NJ. It hasn't been easy but, I'd be lying if I said I didn't love every minute of the process of growing a business, building a brand and creating a legacy.

My parents didn't jive with this in the beginning and when I lived with them and they paid my room and board I didn't have much to say. They wanted nothing by success for me, they just didn't think "starting a business" was a smart idea.

On this podcast, I call them up to ask them how they feel now, 10 years after we opened up our first business.

Great fun on this one and the message is simple. Not everyone is going to agree with what YOU want and dream about. And they don't have to. This is your life, and the only one that has to believe in you is you.

Thank you for listening! And please leave a review on itunes and share this podcast with someone who will find value in this message, Thank you!

Jen, fifty-three years old, a mother of 3, transforming her body while building muscle, burning fat and getting stronger with the magic of visualization.

Before we can even begin to take action ion our goals, we must paint a mental picture of what our success will look like. It starts with seeing it mentally, then believing it’s possible, and then we can take action and actually do the necessary tasks needed for success.

Creating a mental image of what we want, is like planting a seed of exactly how we want our life to look. Once the seed (thought/mental image) is planted in our brain, then just like a flower or tree we nurture those thoughts by thinking of them often and connecting more with the actions needed. The mental image we visualize is like roots that form from seed. The more vivid the picture, the stronger the roots become eventually manifesting into success.

It’s not always easy to do, especially when results don’t show up quickly. But on this podcast, Jen shares her story and how she ran her first 10-mile race, became Teacher Of The Year, and transformed her body to step on stage with confidence as a figure competitor.

Powerful podcast here, give a listen and save it so you can watch during those challenging times when results are quick but you are still putting in the work.

Also, if you know of anyone who may be currently struggling with a “plateau”  share this and let’s inspire them!

Chris Miller walked into the gym 80 lbs overweight with type II diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. After accepting the “Teacher of the year award” he saw a photo of himself and wants happy. As a man who loves to lead by example, Chris began his transformation journey despite being scared and intimidated.

Mr. Miller’s transformation will be remembered as one of the most inspiring stories we’ve seen. And at 62 yrs old he says he’s just getting started!

Once you know what needs to be done, the rest is a game of patience. Patience is a matter of delaying gratification in the short term, knowing the results will be more worthwhile in the long term.

I talked with John K - a member of bodhi for the past 3.5 years and asked him what was the key to his transformational success.

He has completely transformed his body, from 23% bodyfat to 6%, from bench pressing 135 as a max 3 years ago to now benching 205 for reps of six.

Results don't happen overnight, but with consistency and patience.

#51 Losing weight during the holidays

I’ve been talking about this a ton lately. Mostly because it’s the most difficult time of year to start a weight loss plan. Which is the exact reason why I feel you should start your weight loss plan.

We are constantly faced with life events which can easily distract us from our goals. Any goals really, but I’m talking specifically about weight loss and body transformations here.

I’ve seen it in 1000 (maybe more) times. Your restricted diet is going great with meals timed out perfectly, workouts are invigorating, and losing weight seems easy

Then, you get invited to a birthday party and you don’t have access to the foods you’ve been eating which has gotten you recent success on the scale and in the mirror. What do you do?

Do you eat the meal with the forbidden foods that you’ve avoided for so long? Do you “splurge” and have the cake also?

The reason I offered a 6 week Holiday challenge for the folks at bodhi was to create some awareness around eating foods moderately and to learn how to incorporate all foods into their diet. And still, lose weight.

I crashed in on  Danielle’s weekly consultation with Karen when I heard them celebrate a “new low” on the scale. Ironically, it was after Thanksgiving. So I felt compelled to ask Danielle a few questions regarding her recent success.

Take a listen, and please leave us a review of this podcast! Also, share with a friend who may be struggling with their diet during the holiday season!

Thank you! 💚

SO many people are afraid of the scale.

Some of the hate as coming from expectations of being a certain weight other than what they feel they should be. Also, it’s often not a direct reflection of their hard work in the gym and from their healthy eating habits.

In theory, when we work out and eat healthily the scale should give us a number we are happy with, yet it often doesn’t. Many people avoid weighing in because of it and think to evaluate their success from that number.

The scale is just one measurement of weight loss. The number on the scale should be going down if we are doing everything we can to support weight loss, however, don’t use this as the one all be all method.

I encourage you to get on the scale just for the fact that you should be aware but don’t let it define your success.

Today’s #askmonetti question “why isn’t the scale going down, if I did everything to lose weight”

Do you feel threatened by other gyms opening in your area?

I get this question quite often, especially from members of bodhi expressing concern with all the new gyms opening up in Somerville NJ.

I appreciate the growth of the fitness industry and how it's become popular enough to have a gym on every corner these days. There are many options for people and I like it when people can see and experience the difference between each of them.

And when/if people come to bodhi for our program it is a sign that they really want to be there.

We could sum up most of these questions with one word: Discipline.

When it comes to your weekly weigh-ins and the scale doesn't move, how do you stay motivated?

First, we encourage you not to put so much value in the weight on the scale. It can lead to discouraging moments of feeling defeated.

The scale is a great tool to use but not the only way to measure your success.

Listen up! this is a NO B.S. answer to your question of "How do I stay motivated when the weight on the scale doesn't move?"

#44 How to reprogram your mind for positive thinking

I’m not a therapist, I’ll start by saying that.

I do feel most people just get stuck on negativity and then in return attract more negativity. We are magnets to our thoughts and emotions. The more we think about something, the more we inevitably bring into our lives.

It’s the law, of attraction. What I’ve found helpful, is staying in my head and analyzing my thoughts. And by working hard on blocking out distractions, while focusing on things that I want to attract into my life. Life is full of challenges, they are unavoidable. How well you face these challenges, will determine if you can overcome them or not.

Awareness, and adaptability. You will discover more positive uplifting opportunities once you let shit go and move on. There is always a silver lining, it may not be so evident but it’s your responsibility to discover it and focus on it to create more of it.

If you have found any value in these podcasts, it would mean the world to me if you left a nice review, thank you for your support! Let's inspire the world!

#43 Stop cheating on your diet!

A common question we get asked often is “How do I stop cheating on my diet?”

First, stop calling it a diet. The noun definition of “diet” is the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eat. Also known as food, to keep this as simple as possible.

Second, when you call it cheating you automatically feel a guilty emotion because “cheating” on anything is frowned upon. If you are a person of integrity that is.

And while feeling guilty to eat something you enjoy, you are setting yourself up for a restrictive “diet”. And when you feel restricted you are more likely to be extreme with your food selections. One day, week or month, either you eat really “clean” or you eat like an asshole and completely throw your hard work out the window leading to a potential binge-fest.

Finding balance is key, and discipline will be your solution.

If you find any value in these Q&A podcasts, please leave a nice review so we can spread the word. Send your questions to me on Instagram @anthonymonetti

Back in 99, My pre-workout supplements used to be a handful of Hydroxycut and before that, I used to take 1 aspirin, 1 vivarin, and 1 ephedrine.

Who remembers when ephedrine was sold over the counter and it was legally accepted to take during competition? I’m showing my age here a bit.

Really though I love pre-workout supplements. And since all the good shit is banned (just kidding) I love me some quality pre-workout. I’ve been a fan of @nutrabio and their whole supplement line. Mainly because they have a no BS full disclosure label and pack their stuff with quality. Plus the taste is …

Today's #askmonetti was “Do you have 1) a philosophy on pre-workouts and 2) a pre-workout that you like?”

Before yesterday’s training session I chopped up a quick video explaining my thoughts on pre-workouts and which ones I have been using recently.

Liking these Q&A podcasts? It would mean the world to me if you left me a nice review so we can grow this podcast to 1 million downloads!

How to stick to your diet pin the weekends?

The weekend mentality will ruin your gains, that’s a fact.

So many people go hard Monday - Friday and on the weekends, the throw away their hard work by overeating. When it comes to weight loss, this is a 24/365 job. That may deter you from starting a weight loss plan but it’s the truth.

That being said, it does get easier when you practice a healthier more sustainable approach to overall health and weight loss.

Karen and I dive into this topic as we feel it’s the #1 reason people don’t see as much success as they could.

Please leave us a review for this podcast and direct all your bodybuilding, fitness and weight loss questions to my Instagram @anthonymonetti. You ask the questions, we answer them! #askmonetti

Or it overtraining really a thing?

Both are true. You can definitely over train, and there are times when you are just under-eating, under sleeping and bore of your current workout routine.

Karen and I dive into some stories about overtraining and share tips to avoid plateaus and ultimately overtraining.

Does creatine work for building muscle?

I get asked this question a ton and have only my experiences to share.

I've found creatine to be one of the only supplements that work every time. But Don't expect miraculous gains from taking a few milligrams of creatine.

I find the only way to build quality muscle is to train intensely for years, consistently.

Supplements have their place, but not to replace hard work and quality nutrition.

What is your biggest struggle with your diet?

That was this month’s question. Every month we post a different question on our community board at bodhi and our members chime in with their answers.

“Variety. I’m a slave to my macros”  was an answer that stuck out to me and I’m sure a lot of people struggle with this so it makes sense to create some content around this painful topic.

First and foremost, please understand the word slave is very extreme and by you using this word puts you in a very vulnerable place when it comes to ever be successful with your health/weight loss journey.

Karen and I dive into this #askmonetti with some real truth that you may not want to hear but, you know it comes from my no B.S. mentality.

If you find any value in this podcast, please write a review and then share it with someone who may be struggling with feeling too restrictive with their dieting efforts. Thank you very much for the love and support, and if you have a question please post it on Instagram using #askmonetti and we will answer with raw authentic truths based on our experiences.

Dieting through the holidays.

Who would do such a thing?

Anyone who wants to avoid feeling like shit.

We talk about it all year long, not just during the holidays. When you are too restrictive with your food selections for dieting or everyday living (which are the same thing) you create a good/bad healthy/not healthy relationship with food.

Food is food. You have better more nutritious foods that give you more bang for your buck and you have foods that may not be so nutritious but they taste really freaking good and are just as good for you, more on a mental and emotional standpoint.

You should be eating both. All year. In moderation and with an appreciation for their value in your life. Don’t overcomplicate this. Eat the foods, but be mindful of your ultimate goal of feeling and looking your best.

If you found any value in this message, please share with a friend who you feel will find value as well. Thank you for your contribution to this project, and be sure to send all your questions our way using the hashtag #askmonetti and we will create a video for you.

What is your biggest struggle during the holidays when it comes to staying on your diet?

How do you deal with injury and the required time off?

The same way we handle all setbacks.

I handle injuries and the required time off first by recognizing change is coming and a mind shift is needed. You always have at least 2 options when faced with an injury or any adversity, failure, or set back for that matter. A feeling of defeat may be noticeable which is negative and will most likely make you feel even worse, leading to potential depression.

For me, this is not a good feeling so I work hard to recognize signs quickly and avoid any further self-loathing. I choose optimism and gratitude solely on the fact that I always feel better when focusing on the positive.

In this podcast Karen and I tell some stories about our injuries and how we rebounded to become even stronger than before the injury. Remember none of the challenges we face are designed to be easy, they are meant to challenge us. And since you know you are the author, director, and producer of your life’s journey, you have the power to change the outcome, not the circumstances.

Believe in yourself.

Trust the process.

Practice patience.
